The Professionals were formed in 1979 by Steve Jones and Paul Cook, both formerly of the Sex Pistols. They released four UK singles and the album ‘I Didn’t See It Coming’ before splitting in 1982. Original members Paul Cook, Ray McVeigh and Paul Myers are teaming up with Tom Spencer for an intimate night at London’s iconic 100 Club to coincide with the release of “The Complete Professional”, a 3CD set being released on October 16th. For Cook, McVeigh and Myers this will be the first time in over 30 years since they were last on stage together. Tom Spencer will be using a Series One 50 and 412 and Ray McVeigh will be using an Artisan 30 combo.
Gus G. Clinic and Tour
Stef Abingdon from The Midnight Beast came to our London office this week to try a range of amps. The Midnight Beast detonated their very own viral bomb in December 2009 with ‘Tik Tok’. A hilarious parody of the Ke$ha song, it wracked up over 25,000 YouTube hits by the end of the first day and subsequently turned the group into bona fide Internet sensations. In 2011 they launch a self-titled narrative comedy series for E4 produced by Warp Films to great success. Stef and the band are looking to make things more ‘live’ for their upcoming tour and will be using Blackstar for this and their future Youtube videos. Stef also left with an LT Dual pedal to add to his new Blackstar rig. For more information on the band visit http://www.themidnightbeast.com
Singer, songwriter, artist and member of the band People On Vacation, Ryan Hamilton, has just completed his sold out UK tour using a Fly3 as his main amp. Ryan said ‘I bought the Blackstar Fly3 to practice at home. I loved it so much, I just did a full UK tour with it! You should have seen the sound guys when I showed up with that tiny amp. It was a blast, and the Fly 3 did an amazing job’. Ryan will be touring the US in October then returning to the UK in March for a headline tour powered again by the Fly3. Richard Hawley - Rough Trade East
Richard Hawley performed at Rough Trade East this week in support of his eighth studio album ‘Hollow Meadows’. The intimate show was for the most part acoustic but when Richard did plug his electric guitar in he used a Fly 3 amp to staggering effect. Richard is a longterm Blackstar endorsee and used an Artisan 15 and 30 on the new record along with the Fly 3. Richard will be on tour from late October.
