About Duane Denison

Duane Denison (born January 21, 1959) is an American guitarist best known for work with the avant garde, influential rock band The Jesus Lizard. He is also known as a founding member of supergroup Tomahawk.

He began his musical career by studying classical guitar. Denison and ex-Ministry bassist Paul Barkerrecently collaborated to form a new band, U.S.S.A.. U.S.S.A. released one album in 2007, titled The Spoils. From late 2008 until 2012, he played guitar for Nashville-based Legendary Shack Shakers.

He has also played with Hank Williams III's "Damn Band" and Silver Jews, among others. Denison supplied the lead guitars on EmptyMansions snakes/vultures/sulfate released on April 2, 2013.

Duane Denison is one of Spin magazine's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". He is recognized as one of the most powerful and unique guitarists of the late 1980s and 1990s, known for his complicated scales, hard-driving rhythms, and riffs that combine a pastiche of blues, punk, jazz, and classical sounds.
