Blackstar Instrument Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced sales professional to represent electric and acoustic guitar products from prestige brands Blackstar Amplification, Gordon Smith, Auden and G & L guitars in the south of the UK and key accounts.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Blackstar as it enters a new phase of growth. Our mission is to supply products that are the ultimate tools of self expression for guitarists and provide great business for our retail partners across the UK - you will be key to us achieving these objectives.
You will be responsible for the ongoing development of our business, building and maintaining relationships within our existing dealer network and supporting the marketing and promotion of our products in-store, online and at events.
Our ideal candidate will:
  • Have a good knowledge of our products alongside a proven track record of selling musical instruments to the MI market.
  • A minimum of 5 years on the road experience in MI.
  • Experience of managing key accounts.
  • Excellent understanding of MI market trends and routes to market.
  • Work with the Blackstar new product team to define the next generation of market defining products.
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels in a confident and knowledgeable manner, operating both individually and within a team.
  • Have a clear understanding of planning and reporting, time management and agenda setting.
  • Have a good level of computer literacy and be familiar with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Reside in the south of the UK.
  • Play guitar.

Service Engineer
Job Description
Department: Operations
Job Title:  Service Engineer
Reporting to:  Service Manager
Overall purpose of the job:   Support the efficient working of the department to provide excellent customer service to Blackstar's Distributors, dealers and end users. In addition to service work the role will assist with development of prototypes for artists and facilitate communication between R&D and Operations Departments.
Main Activities / Tasks
  • Support the Service Manager in the delivery of the department goals
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to trainee service engineer as required.
  • Contribute to  the day-to-day management of the department to manage the cost, delivery and quality of all service activities
  • Manage and repair all Blackstar products to meet pre-defined performance targets
  • Ensure that the Blackstar service database is completed and up to date at all times
  • Liaising with UK dealers and end users on technical queries and service/repair issues
  • Liaise with internal departments on all relevant technical and quality issues
In Support of R&D
  • Liaise with R&D and Marketing departments in order to support the development of artist prototypes
  • Under the guidance of a Senior Design Engineer, build artists prototypes and visit artists to discuss the performance requirements
  • Test “spot-buy” and other new components on existing products
  • Support in the development of colour special projects and future product enhancements
Other Duties:
  • Support the day-to-day management of Blackstar loan stock and spares processes
  • Contribute to the Blackstar management team with pro-active suggestions and new ideas
The Person
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
Ideally the candidate will be familiar with all aspects of guitar amplifier design and manufacture, and will be able to apply their extensive knowledge in a commercial environment
Minimum HNC in electronics or associated engineering subject or 5 years’ experience of electronic service and repair of consumer audio equipment
Training / Technical Skills
Knowledge of valve based audio equipment
An interest in musical instrument and audio technology Also a Guitar player
A demonstrable aptitude for electronics and will have been interested in guitar amps, consumer electronics and circuitry in a previous role
Experience / Knowledge
Working within an engineering development role Will have worked in commercial electronics environment in a similar role for a minimum of 5 years, with experience of talking to end users in both written and verbal form
