OK, let me try to explain. Assuming you have the image in front of you.
Horizontally, you have time, in seconds, from "0" to "9.5"
Vertically, you have frequencies, from "0" to "22kHz"
A little after 0 sec., I launched the bass string. You "see" it at the very bottom of the frequency, with some saturation shown in red. But most of this sound is the "yellow" lines, propagating, with the red vanishing roughly after 2 seconds.
A little after 3 sec, I launched a "high" string, which is the little red line at about 1kHz height. You notice that the red at the level of the first "bass" string is appearing again, this is because its volume is pushed up due to the high string effect. And same at close to 5sec and 6.5sec. Of course, the natural decay of the low string induce a lower and lower effect, simply because at the end, it does not sound anymore, but for the 3 hits of the high string, you clearly see the low string volume coming up (red/orange color at the lowest horizontal line level).
I hope I'm clear in my explanation. You can also see that while the bass string provides harmonics (very light) up to about 9kHz in the beginning, the high string can induce frequencies up to about 15kHz...
Under normal circumstances, the bass line should stay red for much longer (probably up to about 7 sec, with a constantly vanishing red color (from red to yellow). Showing the red segment each time another string is hit is typical of noise gate, which is what we do not want here (or at least switchable).
Cheers

I've had a reply from a Blackstar Product Specialist:
<quote>
Our digital R&D team are working to resolve the preamp noise dampening issue as swiftly as possible, as of yet it is not possible to provide a date for any firmware updates etc but rest assured it is being addressed and a solution will be reached to satisfy all customers with this issue. The fix will most likely involve making the part of the preamp switchable via the INSIDER options allowing users to select noise dampening either on or off.

I will keep you updated with the developments of this process.

Looks encouraging...

Yes, especially the part where they acknowledge that there's a problem!

In their Facebook page they announced the new insider 1.6.0 version release... But in the list of upgrades, again, I can't see this dampin effect fix... apart from a generic: " Various revisions , including Noise Gate control Of ID Core vía insider".
Still nothing for this issue... it seems...

Well they announce 1.6.0 everywhere, but their website and download is still at 1.5.0....:)

Anyway, I agree with random: at least there is a written recognition of the issue and a commitment to solve it.

That's definitely good news...

Hopefully they'll update the manual to reflect all the changes. They're a couple revisions behind from the software updates. I still have to search the forum for the midi CC # changes, since they didn't bother fixing the manual with the new numbers.....

@PhD Let us know if the bug of strong damping effect has been fixed.
Me, I will check for two other bugs that are supposed to be fixed, later... 8-)

There is a new handbook for the 1.6 version.
