Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and blackstar, just wondering which tubes and speakers to upgrade, thinking v30 w/ t12-75, wondering what others had done, as far as tubes I'm clueless. Everything is stock, my sound is blues to hard rock with some metal. Any suggestions appreciated

Hi, If you like V30s they are a good choice but speaker choice is fairly subjective.....some dont. As for tubes JJs are well liked in Blackstars and very popular but almost anything will be better than the stock tubes.....

Here's what went into my S1-45 at last re-valve:

3 x JJ Tesla Ecc83 (12AX7)
1 x NOS Military grade Phillips Jan 6189w Ecc82 (12AU7)
2 x Svetlana Winged C EL34

All scoped and biased to what my tech called 'optimum setting'

Speakers are still stock, well broken in by now and I have to say it sounds unbelievably good.

For valves I've gone for EHX (I think they're rebranded Mullards) as I find them a bit more mellow than the JJ's, which I found to be too brittle for my taste.

I've left the speakers as stock but I've added the 212 extension cab. This is a closed back cab and sounds totally different. Combined with the open back combo the sound is so much better than the combo on its own.

I'm very happy with my tone right now.
