Power Reduction-Use or No

Hi

I'm a new owner of a HT20R MKII. I usually play clean at low volumes. As I understand this amp, when in 2W Power Reduction mode it cuts down the output wattage but cranks up power to the tubes to reduce headroom at lower volume. I want to make my tubes last. Wouldn't I be better off leaving the power at 20W and just turning the master volume down?
