The Blackstar amp name is becoming very popular. In this video I place it up against some of the BIG names in the amp industry... Mesa Boogie, Marshall and Orange. Surprisingly all 4 amps have a very distinctive tone and the Blackstar holds its own. Here is the video:

Thanks for Posting, a good comparison

For me the Vintage Modern wins hands down ...but I think its one of the best sounding Amps in the entire Marshall range(imo). Considering the Blackstar is cheaper (sometimes much cheaper) than the others it does a decent job.

The main criticism of the Orange TH30 Amp is that its too higher gained than most other Orange Amps and does n't do classic Rock very well. It can sound fizzy which I think comes across in this video.

Thanks again for the shootout video.

They all sound good to me, but then again, I like ZZTop.
I find the Blackstar pretty versatile, and can dial in a lot of tones. It has a nice rhythm growl, but the Vintage Modern sounds best on lead.
