Re: HT5 tubes?

I swapped the pre tube with a mesa boogie SPAX7-A just to see how it would sound and I have to say it's not bad, not as much treble as the stock tube, adds a hair of mud to the sound that can easily be EQ'd out with the built in controls. Over all a little darker and more Gain is present with overd...

Re: Blackstar HT-5 Combo Speaker Recommendations!

I looked up the Celestion V10... its depth is 4.1 inches... The Celestion Gold is 5.3 inches in depth.... Based on what you saw do you think a Gold would fit .... as it needs another 1.2 inches... I have swapped Celestion V10 in my HT-5 and it sounded quite well, it is a bid louder than the original...

Depth of speaker in HT-5 combo... enough space?

Hi,

If anybody has replaced the stock speaker with a 10" or a 12".... did you have any clearance issues with the depth of the speaker?

I'm wondering if something like an alnico with the larger magnet will fit without bumping into a low hanging tube or some other obstruction...

Thanks,,

Re: Adding an extension cabinet to the HT-5 combo

Sorry .... you just said that.... I though you meant getting a 2x12 cabinet..... So are the jacks that connect two external cabinets typically wired in series..... If they are, then thats the easiest solution..... and it would give a lot of flexibility when I want to go somewhere.... just take the H...

Re: Adding an extension cabinet to the HT-5 combo

Thanks.... I was afraid of that.... yeah the resistor idea goes down a bad path..... I haven't purchased the cabinet yet... I was just getting ready to .... now I have to think this through.... What about putting the 8 ohm speaker in a 1x12 cabinet..... and getting a 2nd 1x12 cabinet .. and another ...

Re: Adding an extension cabinet to the HT-5 combo

Similar question... just a little different.... I have an 8 ohm external speaker. Can I do the connection on an HT 5 Combo to allow me to run both the internal 16 ohm speaker and the external 8 ohm speaker? I read the manual online but based on what it says I'm not sure..... It looks like I should h...

Re: Blackstar HT-5 Tube Swap

[quote="ulquiorra"]This thread seems to be digressing slightly so here's my two cents to get it back on track. I have the HT-5S and I swapped the 'AX7 for a NOS Mazda silver plate and it tightened up the bass response very nicely and gave it the defined punch needed for palm muted rhythms. The mids ...

Re: Cabinet choices for the HT-5

I bought the Blackstar HT-110 "default" cabinet when I bought the HT-5 amp. I have not tried the amp out with another cabinet as the other amps I am around are all combos and have different impedences than what the HT-5 requires. But I feel like the HT-110 is by far the weak link in the chain. It m...

Re: Post your Blackstar amp!

Hi and greetings from gemany! Okay, let me show you my beauties! I customized the HT 5 Top with some smd-lights, that are mounted form the backside of the front-plate of the amp, so that they will illuminate the paneel. It is really amazing in the dark. The self-built 1 x 12" box (open back) includ...
