Re: So I left my HT5R on standby....

I've left my HT-5 on standby for maybe 8-9 hours with no harm, it really shouldn't cause an issue, I'm no expert but amps get used from morning to night in studios and on stage, hope you figure out your problem though.

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

It's been a long day, I got home with my G12T-75 around 4pm and had two hours to fit it and play it but I ran into an issue with one of the thin bolts in the cab, the nut was somehow totally seized to it, forcing the nut resulted in the particleboard crumbling where the other end of the bolt sits in...

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

I've ordered the G12T and paid extra for weekend delivery, ultimately I picked it because I'm a fan of the more glassy Marshall sounds, hopefully that will translate nicely to the HT-5, I'll post an update tomorrow.

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

I'm possibly being harsh on the Seventy 80, it's more than likely just down to my tone preference, I'm a big fan of brighter, brash sounds, the Seventy 80s really didn't do it, I'm hunting youtube for clips but I'm still leaning towards the G12T-75 :)

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

Ok so I've been badmouthing Blackbirds without basis, seems my cabs had Celestion Seventy 80s...the good news is that the Vintage 30 destroys them, at first I wasn't sure but when I connected both cabs at once it was a clear difference, the V30 has significantly more top and mid range detail, the Se...

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

Well I got an email saying the V30 will be with me tomorrow so we shall see, it sounds like my kind of tone judging from what I've heard on Youtube but I do wonder how the actual blackstar cabs will affect the sound, that and the open/closed back issue, I'll have good fun finding out though

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who can't stand the Blackbirds, I've never been happy with the tone of the mini stack but I knew what the HT-5 could do from watching Youtube, I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that the V30 will show me what I've been missing. As for the second speaker I ...

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

Ah well as long as it sounds great when it's loud I don't mind so much, the blackbirds just don't seem to have much treble response, on the gain channel my SG and Strat sound nearly identical, the clean channel not so much but there's still this muffle blanket over the sound.

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

Closed vs open backs is something that has occurred to me too, for the moment I've ordered a single V30, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_bounce.gif Am I correct in thinking that the higher wattage of the v30 means I'll have to drive the amp harder for t...

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

Yeah I can't get over how bad the blackbird speaker sounds, they were passable at first but once you get to know them they really start to stink, I don't mean to insult whoever it was at Blackstar who "custom voiced" them but jeez. I never even thought about replacing the speaker though, thanks for ...
