Re: Vet 30 in a HT-20

You made a wise choice. You improved the amp sound vastly and you saved a bunch of money at the same time. I swear by the Vet 30's. Been using the same four in my two 2x12 cabs shortly after they were available to order online. Never felt the need to swap them out since dropping them in. I work part...

Re: How does the Blackstar HT sound with V30's

V30's are a decent choice. Much better than stock for sure. Though some would argue the stock speaks sound fine tot them. Personally, I say V30 Clones for the win! Half the price,no icepick to the forehead upper midrange spike, warmer and smoother tone. I have 4 in a pair of 2x12 cabs. Been in there...

Re: Effects for mt HT Stage 60???

L6 makes pretty tasty time based effects. So they are a good choice for anything in the loop. I would say try before buy in a situation where there is no effects loop on the amp. Also not a fan of most L6 distortions but they would not be necessarily needed anyway. M9 would be my recommendation as w...

Re: HT-60 Stage, Clean Channel Problem - nasty "clipping" and break up :(

I am accepting that when you said "the tubes are new" that you mean all the tubes. If not, start there. Even if it is not the main root of your particular problem, your ears will thank you. My experience was slightly different. The clean channel (either voicing selected) was about the only thing I c...

Re: Speakers Advise

None. As mentioned, I have no speaker GAS since purchasing the V30 Clones well over 5 years ago. I have listened to other speakers since. Have played through my share of various amps and cabs since too. I work in a new and used music store so I cross paths with a great variety of equipment on a regu...

Re: Brand New Soloist 60 - Cracking & Popping

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the excessive noise central forum! http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_jokercolor.png I would own the Soloist myself if not for the WEIGHT. Friggin thing is almost as heavy as the 212 version. I am an HT-100h head owner. They are both quite similar in...

Re: Speakers Advise

A Pair of Veteran 30's. I have 4 and have not felt the need to even look at other speakers since. 1/2 the price of Celestion 30's and no mid range hump to deal with. I.E., do not have to try and adjust everything before them to compensate. I suspect that at least a bit or more of the sterility and h...

Re: Hum from ht100

Sorry if I sound like an echo chamber but..... Change the preamp tubes. Start there. They need to go even if there is little to no noise. They are horrid sounding to begin with. Be consistent with the equipment you are using to test. Be sure that equipment has no issues of its own (power, cables, gr...

Re: New Stage 60 Owner

Yes, the stock preamp tubes were quite offensive to my ears. I am not particularly a Sovtek fan to begin with. And this was my first experience with TAD. I read a lot on here before purchasing so when the amp arrived I was already loaded for bear.... several preamp tubes to try and a brand new quad ...

Re: Couple of quick HT-100 questions

I completely identify with darn near everything you said. I was in the exact same boat some time ago. Worse, I only had a Crate 412 cab that I was willing to part with. I easily sold off all 4 speakers and managed $50 for the completely stripped cab. It took what seemed like an eternity to get that ...
