Re: New HT5-R - No Sound!

Is this a common problem on all HT5 series amps? Curious as I have a HT5C.
Thanks

Re: PSA at Musicians Friend

Great deal! I picked up an HT5C a new few months ago for $279. Anything under $300 is a great price for this little amp. Replaced the speaker and preamp tube and really like the amps voicing as opposed to the stock sound. I like the different tonal flavors possible when running stereo out through a ...

Re: New user - amp issues!

I preferred the sound of the JJ as well. Love the sound of the Warehouse Predator speaker with the JJ. I'm also using a Boss GT-3 processor and the EQ of the GT-3 lets me push the tone around, fine tuning what is pleasing to my ear. Each amp design creates a certain voicing. It can be altered to som...

Re: New user - amp issues!

I am no expert with tubes, just tried a couple and found one I liked. There is a rating for the output of the tube that will also equate to its gain output and overall volume. Don't underestimate the speaker swap, it is yet another part of the tone equation. And when changing the tube, the direction...

The tube swap is very simple. Remove six or eight screws on the back and disconnect the speaker cable. Carefully pull the amp portion straight up. The small tube is the preamp and is very easy to change. I am one of those that did not re-bias. My little HT is a beast right now and a couple guys I pl...

Re: New user - amp issues!

After a short time of playing through my HT-5C I also didn't care for the heavy gain and overall tone. The amp sounds ok stock but I did change the preamp tube to a JJ Tubes 12AX7/ECC83. It drastically reduced the gain that the stock tube has and now sounds much cleaner with far more control over th...

Re: Blackstar HT-5 Tube Swap

After having played through my HT5C for a few months I was not crazy about the heavy gain that others have stated. The stock preamp tube saturated quickly and did have some hiss at higher volumes. I have a first edition PRS SE Santana and old USA Peavey Predator with Seymour Duncan pickups. I had tr...
