Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

I'm pretty much in the same situation with my HT-5, I guess I've "outgrown" what it can do sound wise. Don't get me wrong, it's a good little amp (I have the HT-5C), but it's just not what I'm after sound-wise.....Even with a 1x12 Greenback cab, the amp's sound is too dark, & doesn't have enough hig...

Re: New cab, Celestion Greenback!!!!

Thanks Majik, I went a little overboard with the rotary effect, it's too much....and, you're right, Trower's sound is a lot cleaner & brighter..... Thanks for the listen & coments!!!!! I'll have more clips in a couple days, as I'm loading all my gear up Thursday & taking it to a local church to trac...

New cab, Celestion Greenback!!!!

Hey guys, First clip is the HT-5 combo ran through a Randall 1x12 Greenback cab mic'd with an SM57. Guitar used is an Ibanez RG350DX, using the bridge pickup, going for an AC-DC type tone (more power tube saturation than preamp).... Amp settings: Gain: 2-3 Volume: 8 Bass: 7 Mid: 4 Treble: 7 ISF: 0 I...

Re: Seeking alternative to the HT-5's dull sounding cabs

I finally pulled the trigger on an extension cab for my HT-5 combo. I picked this cab, purely for the Greenback speaker. I originally wanted a Vintage 30, but opted for the Greenback, as it'd probably give me a more classic/vintage sound. The cab will be here Tuesday, so I'm waiting patiently, or tr...

Re: HT-5R combo speaker upgrade

Well, I'm trying to save a little $$$, but really, I'm gonna need another cab (or two...one with Greenback, one with V30...) anyway, as I plan on buying a couple more low watt tube heads before too long. I don't gig anymore, the gear will be used for recording. I plan on using the tube amp(s) in the...

Re: HT-5R combo speaker upgrade

Well, I guess that'll just about make my decision for me, gonna buy an extension cab........ That was my original plan anyway though, along with buying a couple more low watt tube heads...... I really wish I'd gotten the HT-5 stack/head now, it's all good........ I'm still pretty happy with the litt...

Re: HT-5R combo speaker upgrade

You guys that have upgraded/changed speakers in the HT-5, have you had any problems with the tubes being close to the speaker magnet?????

I want another speaker (really want another cab, but I'm trying to save some $$$), but don't wanna do anything that's gonna damage my amp......
